Summit Broadband Signs on to the Nrby Platform
Nrby, the only mobile workstream collaboration platform powered by SmartPins, today announced Summit Broadband as the newest addition to the Nrby platform. Summit Broadband, a fiber-optics telecommunications provider serving Central and Southwest Florida, is working with the Nrby platform to improve its plant maintenance, reduce temporary drops, improve documentation and tracking of locates (eg., call before you dig situations) and to advance its field service safety procedures.
”Summit Broadband was looking for a way to rapidly document plant maintenance issues directly from a mobile device and eliminate all the emails back and forth between teams,” explained Summit Broadband VP of Engineering, Florencio Bulanhagui. “Working with the Nrby team, we were able to launch the tool within two weeks, and the data collected has moved several key projects ahead of schedule. The ability to deploy new SmartPins as needed allows us to find new ways to use the Nrby tool and get the associated data collected in a very quick manner.”

There is an intended quick return on the chosen use cases mentioned above so that the operations teams at Summit can immediately become more proactive with its plant maintenance and more efficient in its field operations, while at the same time drastically improving its field ops safety procedures. Specifically, the Nrby platform offers Summit Broadband the following:
- Better Asset Management – Summit Broadband now has the ability to create and view historical maintenance records from any mobile device, set actionable timers to proactively track and schedule maintenance, and crowd source/collect asset details — including location — when not available.
- Efficiently Manage Temporary Drops – The company can now completely digitize the service provider’s temporary drop construction form on a mobile device, allowing Nrby SmartForms to capture all aspects of the temporary drop (site details, exact location, required equipment and materials, homeowners’ concerns, etc.). It can also create automatic alerts for the third-party contractors responsible for drop burials.
- Advanced Safety Procedures — The Nrby platform’s ability to “SmartFence” any hazards or dangerous locations gives Summit Broadband the ability to enable proximity alerts and check-in monitors, which helps keep field technicians aware and safe in the field.
