Nrby Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 5, 2026
At Nrby, we prioritize protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
Information We Collect
1) Information you provide
We may collect personal information you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address, phone number, and other contact details. This typically occurs when you fill out forms, request information, create or manage an account, or contact us directly.
2) Information collected automatically
We may automatically collect certain information about your device and your use of the Services, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, app version, identifiers associated with your device or session, and usage activity (for example, pages/screens viewed and actions taken).
3) Location information (mobile app)
With your permission, our mobile application may collect precise location (for example, GPS) and/or approximate location (for example, network-based location).
Foreground location: Used to enable location-based functionality such as detailed visualization of nearby SmartPins and related in-app experiences.
Background location (if enabled): The app collects location data in the background solely to power geofencing and deliver proximity notifications when you are near an assigned SmartPin, helping ensure you do not miss relevant alerts even when the app is not open. We do not use background location for advertising or marketing purposes, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
Background location access is only used if you grant the applicable device permission and can be changed at any time in your device settings. Google Play requires that background location be tied to a core feature and disclosed clearly to users.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, enhance, and maintain the Services
- Enable core features (including SmartPins visualization and geofencing/proximity notifications where permissions are granted)
- Respond to inquiries, support requests, and other communications
- Send service-related messages (such as updates, security notices, and administrative messages)
- Share updates, promotional materials, and newsletters (you can opt out at any time)
- Analyze usage and trends to improve performance and user experience
- Protect the security and integrity of our Services, users, and operations
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We share information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: We may partner with trusted third-party providers who process information on our behalf to support the Services (for example, hosting, communications, customer support, analytics, and security). These providers are permitted to use information only as needed to perform services for us.
Legal Obligations: We may disclose information to comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, subpoenas, court orders, or other legal processes.
Business Transfers: If Nrby is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Location data: We do not share precise or background location data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies (Website)
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, enhance functionality, remember preferences, and understand website usage. You can adjust your browser settings to manage or block cookies, but doing so may limit certain website features.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services, meet legitimate business needs, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Location data retention: We aim to minimize the collection and retention of location data. Where location data is stored (for example, to support geofencing/proximity notification reliability, auditing, or troubleshooting), we retain it only for as long as necessary for those purposes and then delete or de-identify it in accordance with our retention practices.
Data Security
We employ administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to safeguard personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, or misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
You may have the right to:
- Access and update your personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal and operational requirements)
- Opt out of promotional communications by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us directly
Location controls: You can enable or disable location permissions (including background location) at any time in your device settings, and you can disable proximity notifications through device or app notification settings.
Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed toward children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted here with a revised effective date. Please review this policy regularly to stay informed about our privacy practices.
